the evergreen approac *
To me, being evergreen means having strong roots that last the test of time. My goal is to help you and your family achieve that by promoting a pain free life with massage therapy, providing evidence based information through childbirth education classes, and helping you feel confident with birth and postpartum support.
I believe families are whatever you decide they are. Whether it’s you and a partner, a house full of children, a found family made up of good friends, or a pet that is your entire life, I’m here to support you in whatever capacity you need with zero judgement and open arms.
childbirth education
As a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, my goal is to give you the evidence based information you need to feel confident and supported in your ability to ask questions, make decisions and navigate labour, birth and beyond. This class is respectful, transformative and evidence based. We will go over the 6 Healthy Birth Practices and the most recent evidence based information on the topics covered in the curriculum, giving you what you need to be able to make informed decisions and achieve the birth experience you want. We use a workbook, visual aids, activities, games and discussion to cover the curriculum. While I strongly suggest you take the full 5 class series, the class is flexible and adjustments can be made to tailor the information to your needs. For more details on the curriculum, don't be afraid to reach out or check out my 'pricing' tab above. For more information on classes and content, send me an email or fill out the form below!
Massage therapy
As your massage therapist, my goal is to listen to your concerns and build a treatment plan to help you leave our session feeling better than when you came in. I specialize in therapeutic, relaxation, deep tissue, prenatal and postpartum massage therapy. I offer prenatal massage through all three trimesters, and postpartum massage therapy as soon as you feel ready for it. Each appointment is completely customized to whatever your needs are that day, whether you’re in the mood to chat or you want a quiet treatment, or if you want to work on a problem area or have general relaxation. I don’t believe in “no pain, no gain”, and instead encourage my clients to communicate with me and ensure we stay in the “good hurt” zone. My treatment style is a combination of relaxation and therapeutic (unless of course you ask for something specific), and my goal is to leave you with less aches and pains and a calm nervous system. I offer insurance receipts and accept card payments.
Doula
My #1 goal as your doula is to support you every step of the way from when you hire me, to when you're enjoying those newborn cuddles postpartum. There is no right or wrong way to give birth, there is only figuring out what feels best to you. As your birth doula, I am committed to learning your preferences and concerns to help you identify your priorities and build a list of birth preferences. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to advocate for yourself and have the birth experience you desire. As your postpartum doula, my focus is to pour encouragement and support on you and your new family. I'm never coming into your space to save the day or take over for you; I'm coming in with tools, resources and support to help you gain the confidence you need to thrive. If birth or postpartum support is something you’re interested in learning more about, please reach out or fill in the intake forms below!
it’s Nice to meet you!
Hi! My name is Shea and I’m the face behind Evergreen Family Wellness. I’ve been a massage therapist since 2017, a doula since 2019, and a childbirth educator since 2020. When I’m not with clients or supporting births, you can usually find me spending time with my husband, or curled up with a book and my three cats.
My passion lies in providing evidence based support through massage therapy, birth work, and childbirth education. I provide massage therapy for entire families in my treatment room, and my clients range in age from 5 years old to 80+. I massage people from all walks of life and various communities. I’ve treated clients through multiple pregnancies and postpartum journeys, hearing stories about the toddlers that I used to see wiggle around in bellies during prenatal massage, and who I held during postpartum overnight support when they were just days old. I’ve supported people through miscarriage and IVF and celebrated with them when they finally got to book that prenatal massage appointment, and later bring home that baby they worked so hard to have. I’ve had the privilege of teaching childbirth education to 100+ families across 500+ classes, and supporting 50+ births and postpartum families. If I could summarize my life’s calling in one word it would be support. Regardless of how I’m showing up for my clients, it’s the biggest honour to be invited into this space and to be trusted to help you thrive.
